The doctor just left the room. We are waiting for the neurosurgeon to speak with us directly. The scan did not give us good news. If in fact we were dealing with the arachnoid cyst as the main problem, it would be much easier to treat. Her Chiari II is extremely descended into the spinal canal and placing pressure on the brain stem/basel ganglia. This is also impeding the transfer of spinal fluid that protects the brain and spine. Her brain is forced so tightly down into her spine that it is almost completely corked. Her last scan was 4/20/08 and we can see a great deal of deterioration in less than 4 months time. Our questions have totally changed from cyst related to how much room can safely be made for her brain and how many times can it be performed. Her last decompression surgery was in October 2006 and seemed to provide some relief for less than 2 years. It was explained that each surgery has the potential to weaken the physical support structure of the spine and skull thus making each successive surgery more detrimental. I ask that anyone reading this pray for complete intervention by God. I am looking at Haley in her bed and she looks so drained, but when I ask how she is, she gives me "thumbs up" and smiles. How can you argue with her level of hope. Pray that God will strengthen Michelle and I for her sake and for supernatural wisdom to even ponder the decisions that lay ahead.

As much as this just brought tears to my eyes, picturing Haley do a "thumbs up" makes a smile appear. What a sweet, innocent, blessing from God...and such a perfect example of where our faith should be as well. Oh my gosh she makes me smile! And it's like in church when I am not "into" the song, a glance up at Ahmed (spelling?) puts me back on track for worshiping God! Haley will keep your focus on track!
We are praying for you right now and pray that you and Michelle have the strength to continue to support each other through this. We love you!

It is hard to read what you wrote. We are so sorry that you are not hearing yet, what you are hoping and believing for. We pray for you guys and especially for sweet Haley. I wrote out this prayer for myself just over a year ago. I have tweaked if for you and pray it for you as well. We don't have to look too far back in your life to remember how God did the impossible for you. He is in the miracle business and loves you very much.
Dear Heavenly Father, Haley is your masterpiece. She is created anew in Christ Jesus, so that she can do the good things he planned for her long ago. God has not given Pete, Michelle, Haley and Tiffany a spirit of fear and timidity, but of POWER, love and self-discipline. We are in awe in how they are always full of joy in the Lord. How they rejoice! Help them to not worry about anything but instead that they will pray about everything. God may they experience your peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. Your peace guards Pete. Michelle, Haley and Tiffany’s heart and mind as they live in Christ Jesus. Jesus you have left them with a gift of peace of mind and heart. They are not troubled or afraid. God you do not show partiality and you are the same, yesterday, today and forever. You will never leave Pete, Michelle, Haley and Tiffany and you will never forsake them. Help their faith to grow because faith comes from hearing the Word of God. You healed throughout the gospels according to people’s faith – so we ask that you increase their faith and ask you to help in areas of unbelief. Your angels are carrying out your plans in their life – listening for each of your commands – the spoken word. The plans you have for Haley and her family are for good and not for disaster, to give them hope and a future. They choose life and not death, They choose blessing and not curses. They do not lose sight of your words. We ask that those Words penetrate deep within their hearts and they bring life and radiant health to them. By your stripes Haley is healed, because you sent your Word and healed her. You came that she would have life and have it abundantly. May she receive that. We are human, but we don’t wage war with human plans and methods. We use mighty weapons, not mere worldly weapons, to knock down every proud argument that keeps us from knowing and experiencing God. Pete, Michelle, Tiffany and Haley are more than conquerors, because they are in Christ Jesus. May they walk boldly and in health. Thank you Jesus. Amen

As I sit and read this my mind is thinking of Haley singing "You got to tell every one in the land, every girl boy woman and man - come on come on - Because God has been good to me, Rejoice Rejoice! I can imagine God smiling down listening to that sweet voice, as that praise rises up to His ears.
Know that we are praying Gods will through all of this. I cannot imagine the stress you two are under, but know that God is the strength to rely on. We are praying for you and Haley and Tiffany every day. You all are so loved.
We will keep reading the Blog - Pete you are a Blogger Extroidinaire - but I don't know how to spell that long word!!! LOL

I hope you know what I mean when I say that I am praying through the tears. I know that God knows best, but at times like this I would really like to give him some advice! :)
